What is a Wolfkin?
A Wolfkin is a werewolf of the Moonlight Medicine universe. These werewolves are wolves from the head to the lower torso and have tails, but are still human from below the tail to their feet.
How do you become a Wolfkin?
Werewolfism is a retrovirus which is typically spread via blood and saliva, usually from a bite.
Can Wolfkin change whenever they want?
Wolfkin cannot change at will, but instead are bound to the lunar cycle and change five nights in a row: the two nights before the full moon, the night of the full moon, and the two nights after the full moon. Some Wolfkin can hold off the change during the nights prior to the full moon, although most cannot.
What happens to a Wolfkin's personality when they change?
The change brings with it a rabies-like rage that is impossible for new Wolfkin to control, but is controllable over time with the proper training. New Wolfkin also do not remember changing or what happens to them while in werewolf form. This memory, like control, is only achieved in time or with training.
Do Wolfkin have werewolf children?
The Wolfkin Council forbids all Wolfkin from having children. However, if a woman infected with the werewolf retrovirus did have a child, that child would likely also be infected with the werewolf virus.
Are there any other side effects to being a Wolfkin?
Pros to becoming a Wolfkin: enhancement to strength and senses while in Wolfkin form.
Cons to becoming a Wolfkin: the deterioration to the body and brain due to the retrovirus significantly shortens the lifespan of a Wolfkin and causes them to suffer from insanity in the last few years of their lives.
